Emulation, Launchbox and Preserving Video Game History

Launchbox

I was first introduced to emulation when I received a disc for my Dreamcast from a friend that contained a complete collection of NES games. Later I would discover the joys of MAME and playing classic arcade games and eventually venture into console emulators.  In 2014 I assembled an arcade cabinet in order to really relive those arcade … Read more

Google Chrome

It only took 8 years but I’m finally settling down with Google Chrome.  2017 is the year I finally push aside all other browsers and focus on the one that now gives me everything I need.  That need is mostly focused on unification across platforms.  It wasn’t long ago however that Chrome was not only … Read more

The 12 Completions in 12 Months Video Game Challenge

12 Games in 12 Months

It’s a brand new year and rather than set some tired old “exercise more, eat better” resolution I’m setting a video game challenge.  Much like a lot of gamers I have a tendency to purchase games and then purchase other games before getting to the end of the previous ones.  I have an enormous Steam library … Read more

Civil War Hits the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Marvel Cinematic Universe

In 2008 the Marvel not only took a chance on an Iron Man movie but also on an entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.  The gamble to put together an entire universe spread across multiple films, many years and including many high paid actors and actresses seemed near impossible, maybe even for The Avengers.  That gamble has … Read more

Batman and Superman Team Up to Build a Universe

Ever since the Michael Keaton Batman movie comic fans have been clamoring for a Batman and Superman team up on the big screen.  On March 25, 2016 comic fans filed into movie theaters across North America to finally see the two most iconic super heroes in the same movie, fighting against each other.  It’s perhaps not the first thing you think about when you here that Batman and Superman are in the same movie and for many it may have been an initial turn off.  My mother who is not a super hero fan by any means was really bothered by the fact that these two heroes where going to be fighting each other.  Yet this is not even the biggest weight that this movie carries,  Batman vs. Superman is DC and Warner Bros launch pad for their Marvel style cinematic universe and its at the same time the movies biggest triumph and it’s biggest problem.
